1. Tell me about yourself?

2. Why do you want to work for this company?

Here, you don’t always have to talk only about the good things about the company. Big companies are always open to criticism regarding their functioning and praise the people who provide them new direction. Following are some sample answers to help you:

3. Why did you leave your last job?

You should be very careful with this question. Avoid trashing other employers and making a statement like “I need more money”. Instead of this, you can say that:

6. Are you willing to relocate or travel for the company?

Firstly, you need to understand the purpose of this question. The fresher candidate does not say YES at once. This will only show your desperation to this job. You can answer like this:

I would definitely consider traveling if the opportunity is suitable, rewarding and feasible. I don’t think the travel involved will cause me any problems.

I will answer this question based on a few parameters. As far as hard work is concerned, I would give myself number 8 because there should always be scope to enhance our skills which will create interest in learning things. To talk about patience, I would tag myself with 6 as I am a beginner level professional. Just like personal life, professional life also requires more experience for more patience. This is probably why senior management in most companies seems to be more patient than the entry level or middle level. Overall, I would rate myself 8 on a scale of 1 to 10.

While answering this question, don’t just say that you are hardworking, dedicated, punctual etc. as these are not assets, it is responsibility that management is looking for. Of course these are positive words and mean a lot to you as well as the company. In fact, these are the qualities that make you an asset to the company once you gain experience.

15. Are you applying for other jobs also?

This question has a very specific purpose. The interviewer wants to know whether the candidate admits that he/she has applied to other places or gives canned answers. You should never claim that you have not applied for any other company. Still you can say that:

17. Describe yourself in one word?

This question is asked to know how spontaneous and articulate the candidate is. If he uses a word, he should be able to explain that word and also represent himself according to that word.

18. What makes you angry?

You should always answer this question in a way that suits both your personality and that of the management.

Sir, I am not an angry person, but when someone bothers me in my work for no real reason, I get a little annoyed. Although I am an even-tempered person, when I get angry, I try to channel my negative emotion into my work.

19. Don’t you think that you are overqualified for this position?

This is the interviewer’s trick to trap you and judge how arrogant you are? So, be careful to answer this question and don’t even indicate to the interviewer that you are overqualified although you are.
